Katia Moraes / Brazilian Heart-Art Exhibition 2

KM:PhotoArt2Adorada
One-week exhibition!
Meet the Artist from 2pm to 4pm and  stay for the Samba from 4pm to 9pm!!!

Katia will be exhibiting her dynamic and colorful drawings and paintings on paper at Tropico Gallery-Art Space.  Her work is inspired by her Brazilian roots and music, with a touch of zen and good axé… Her art journeys integrating her worlds in the arts and the cultures she experiences mixed with momentaneous snippets of feelings.  The work, like syncopated sounds, whether in big banners or in smaller scale, bypasses the superfluous, leaving only the essential, the core of the here and now for the viewer to encounter.

This is only her second exhibition since she started to show her mixed media work early this year, yet her audience is entranced and captivated by it.  As Don Heckman wrote (The International Review of Music):  “Katia has done something remarkable with her drawings. She’s found a way to visually transform the rich, dynamic emotions of her dancing and singing into the equally high-spirited colors and imagery of her drawings. The results are irresistible.”

Katia will be present at the reception (2pm – 4pm), come meet her, get familiar with her work and her vivid and penetrating palate! Stay for Samba Society 3rd annual  “Samba do Trabalhador” (4pm to 9pm $10/door). Kátia is also a part of Samba Society, and will be singing with them for the event. The music will take place in Tropico’s beautiful outdoor patio adding to the authentic vibe of Rio’s Samba de Roda. Brazilian, Latin and Global Music alchemist and house dj REYES (Ecléctica, Art & Grooves) will be spinning Samba, Forró, Baião among his tasteful selections of world music between the live sets.  The art will be available for purchase.
