THE NAME -
As if not enough lines exist delineating regions, weather, moods, and even literature,the name of the gallery, Tropico de Nopal, was inspired by both the cactus commonly used as food in Mexico and the novel "Tropic of Orange" by Karen Tei Yamashita. Tropico de Nopal Gallery-Art Space was created to inspire and involve, surprise and enhance new visions, in an intimate settings, exposing art of many forms to the constantly unfolding community of Los Angeles.
Tropico de Nopal hosts 4-6 exhibitions per year including "Ofrendas - Dia de Muertos Altar-Installations" in November.
FOUNDER/DIRECTOR - REYES RODRIGUEZ is a visual artist. He considers Tropico de Nopal an extension of his creative process, a way to expand, expose and include the diverse vocabulary of Chicano and Latino art into the creative global community.
CO-DIRECTOR - MARIALICE JACOB brings her creative spirit and experience in music, performance and art to Tropico de Nopal, enhancing the vision, coordinating and managing the Gallery.
