In a play of words and worlds, both as commentary and satire, “Bruja-Ha”, Gamboa’s new body of work, explores the mysteries of magic, power and of belief systems that create or drive away energies - positive or negative. In the drawings and black and white large paintings, her iconic figures are placed in highly sophisticated interior settings of organic and geometric patterns and designs, captivating and enrapturing as eloquent prose on possibilities. These are accompanied by unique objects - “potions” and “recipes” - as part of a virtual “Botanica”* installation affirming Gamboa’s wit, prolific creative energy, and her willingness to narrate and expose, as always, deliberate and bold.
